llms.txt

Definition

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is an emerging web standard: a Markdown file at the root of a website (like robots.txt, but for meaning rather than permission) that tells large language models what the site is about and which pages matter most — improving how AI systems retrieve and cite its content.

What goes in it

A short description of the site, followed by curated links to the pages an AI should read first — key products, docs, guides — each with a one-line summary. Optionally, llms-full.txt carries expanded content for deeper retrieval.

Does it help SEO?

It costs nothing and aligns with where retrieval is heading: AI crawlers get a clean, prioritized map instead of guessing from navigation. Adoption is growing across documentation-heavy and AI-forward sites.

Reading about SEO is optional. Doing it isn’t.

SERP Agent runs the whole program — audit, strategy, content, links and AI-search visibility — every day, on its own.
